Thai basil strawberry smoothie
Combining the unique flavour of Thai basil with strawberries will make a lovely summer smoothie.
There are 2 elements involved:

- Combine this with coconut milk or low fat milk to make the smoothie.

That you can keep it in a fridge for a month, and use it to make a Thai basil strawberry cocktail or smoothie at any stage.
How to make Thai basil strawberry smoothie
Ingredients:
- 400 g strawberries
- 2 tbsp Thai basil leaves
- 200 g granulated sugar
- 100 ml Low Fat milk or oat milk
- 6 to 12 ice cubes
Equipment
- Blender or smoothie maker
- Saucepan
- Measuring cup
- Sieve
- Storage jar
Instructions
Stage 1 – make the Thai basil strawberry syrup
- Add the strawberries into the blender.
- Process until they have turned to liquid
- Pour into the saucepan and add the Thai basil leaves and sugar
- Bring to the boil and then simmer for 5 minutes
- Pour through a sieve into the storage jars.
- Let cool and keep chilled in the fridge
Stage 2 – make the Thai basil strawberry smoothie
- Pour 80 ml of the Thai basil strawberry syrup into the smoothie maker
- Add 100 ml low fat milk or oat milk
- Add 6 to 12 ice cubes
- Blend until smooth
- Pour into glass and enjoy

For example the Thai basil on the right.
- The seeds were planted in a seed tray on May 16
- Grown using a heat mat & grow light
- Transferred into a pot 4 weeks later
- Ready for use July 16 – 2 months later
- And will keep growing and growing
If you want to grow your own Thai basil then all you need are seeds and a pot.
Although using a seed heat mat and grow light will help you get faster results.

- 1 Blender or smoothie maker
- 1 Saucepan
- 1 measuring jug
- 1 Sieve or strainer
Ingredients
- 400 g Strawberries
- 2 tbsp Thai basil leaves
- 200 g Granulated sugar

- 6 to 12 ice cubes
